Recently the very first trial with online live anatomical demonstration of spine surgery at the FHML faculty of Maastricht UMC+ presented live streaming to 20 students at home, but also to another group of students at the anatomic dissection room viewing the whole procedure live in 3D. The anatomic lesson was done by Prof. Henk van Santbrink (neurosurgeon) wearing the i-Med 3D Surgical Loupe.
The students embraced this new way of visualization of surgical lessons especially in COVID-19 times. Prof. Van Santbrink said “ the 3D pictures were sharp and stable, also the zoom function worked well, this system has an enormous potential”. The idea is now to integrate this online method from September onwards in the education program. Thanks to the good cooperation with Science Vision and the Anatomic department with Dr Andreas Herrler.
