This week, Prof. Wouter Oosterlinck performed a Midcab procedure at the University Hospital Brussel, Belgium. This was the first time that the i-Med Technology Digital Head-mounted Microscope (DHM) was tested for a midcab procedure.
Prof. Oosterlinck believes that DHM, with its “razor blade sharp pictures”, can potentially play a crucial role in providing higher quality and education through life-streaming and proctoring and also improves the teamwork as everybody can follow the procedure through the eyes of the surgeon. He also believes that there is a very high potential with digital image enhancement to make certain different tissues even better visible than with the human eye.
